Our ground training is based on the Jeppesen series of flight training kits. See the pricing for the pilot ratings below for current pricing for the Jeppesen kit appropriate to that rating. Individual ground instruction by our certificated flight and ground instructors is at the rate of $45.00 per hour based on individual student needs. An instructor will need to verify that the student has obtained sufficient aeronautical knowledge to receive an endorsement to take the appropriate written exam.
Allows a pilot to carry passengers in a single-engine in visual weather conditions but not for hire. Please note these are minimum requirements, and that most students require more time for proficiency before taking their exams.

$135 per hour 40 hours minimum, includes fuel
This is the cost of the Jeppesen Private Pilot Kit, which is intended as a self-study course in the aeronautical knowledge required for the Private Pilot written examination. Students can expect to need a few hours of individual ground instruction with an instructor during the course and in preparation for both the written and practical (flight) exams.
Headset is required for flying. One can be rented from Phoenix at a lower nominal per flight cost. The type, quality and whether a headset is purchased new or used will determine the actual cost.

Added to private pilot license which allows pilot to use aircraft with retractable landing gear and controllable-pitch propeller.
A minimum of 2 flights of at least 1 hour each on different days will be required. This allows the student time between lessons to absorb what was learned. The actual time required will be dependent on the student's proficiency and the instructor's judgement of that proficiency.
See the Instruction Time above for required minimum time. This will be flown in the Piper PA28R-201 Arrow III.
Allows a pilot to fly a properly-equipped airplane in instrument weather conditions or above 18,000 ft. This rating is added to a private pilot license, and is required before obtaining a commercial pilot license. Please note these are minimum requirements, and that most students require more time for proficiency before taking their exams.

*This cost includes additional instruction, test retakes, etc. Costs are based on the FAA minimum required hours of instruction, solo time, and typical costs of supplies. The average student may require 10-25% more insturction and solo time to reach minimum proficiency (See FAR 61, Subpart E). These costs are for illustrative purposes only. Your actual costs will likely be somewhat higher.

* The flying time quoted here includes any time accumulated getting a private pilot license and any additional ratings and endorsements. **Costs for obtaining a commercial license vary widely, due to a variety of way that one can build flight time. A pilot with a private license may share costs with those flying with him or her but many not under any circumstances fly strictly for hire or give any flight instruction. Sharing costs is a good way to reduce the cost of working one's way to a commercial license, but not necessarily a dependable one, as the pilot must find others wanting or willing to go to his or her destination and share those costs.
Allows a pilot to instruct others which is recognized as required instruction time for licenses and ratings (instrument rating separate).
Added to a flight instructor license that allows the instructor to instruct a student working on an instrument rating.
Each student will be required to read, be familiar with, and sign the operating rules and restrictions agreement and financial responsibility agreement of Phoenix Flight Academy and the Spanish Fork Airport.
